Title: Merry Christmas 2009 and Happy New Year 2010
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my special blogger and boutique and customer friends out there!! I hope you are enjoying the time leading up to Christmas day as much as I am! I love everything about it including the elaborate decorating, the shopping, the wrapping, the christmas music on the radio, going Christmas caroling, making decorated sugar cookies for Santa with my kids, seeing their eyes light up on Christmas morning and most of all remembering the real reason for the season; the birth of our dear saviour, Jesus Christ! May all of you have a memorable Chrismas and a new year full of new adventures!! Love and hugs to all!!

Wow! It has been a while!! I don't know how all you beautiful bloggers do it!! My shop is doing great and I hope you will visit especially if it's been a while. I have gobs of exquisite home and garden decor and gifts for any occasion as usual but I have ordered many new items at great prices too! Still a member of the Shabby Lane Shops online shopping mall and you can see my shop ad in several national magazines including Southern Lady, Victoria, Tea Time, Romantic Homes, Romantic Country, Cottages and Cabins, Cottage Style and some beautiful Stampington publications which can be found at high end bookstores and craft stores. Don't forget to visit my other fun casual boutique at http://www.sassychicshop too!! On a personal note, it is a busy summer as it always is with my kiddos out of school. Lots of swimming, movies, sleepovers, etc. We went on family vacation in the Lake of the Ozarks area and had a blast! My husband and I are going to the coast of Maine for our 15 year anniversary next month (no kids allowed on this trip!) I love coastal towns as you can probably tell from my shop. Title: Happy Spring
Greetings to all my Blogger Friends! It has been a while since my last post but I have been very busy!! March is the month for my entire family's birthdays and anyone of you who knows me knows that I have to make a big deal out of each and every one of them! The days my children were born were the two best days of my life and the day I married my husband was the third so I believe in celebrating them every year in a very big way! So my daughter became a teenager this year; the big 13 going on 18! WOW! That's about all I have to say about that right now! Also every year around this time the Texas Bluebonnets come out to say their hellos and I love to go see them! My family and I have been very involved in the start up of a new church in the area and it has been a wonderful experience and we grow closer to the Lord every day. My shop is doing well and I added another fun accessory shop called Sassy Chic; I hope you will visit. Well I love spring and it is here in Houston and my normal yearly spring cleaning and decorating itch has arrived right along with it! Re-doing my cottage kitchen and putting in some hard wood floors is in the works! Till next time Friends enjoy your spring!! Blessings, Katie

Title: A New Year; A New Beginning!
I can't believe another year has flown by already! So much happened in 2008 and I know many are concerned about their small businesses in the economy today but I feel positive that 2009 will be a great year for all of us e commerce entrepreneurs! More and more people are shopping on the internet for the convenience and the unique items they can find shopping from the comfort of their own home. On that note I started two more internet businesses. One of them is called Sassy Chic at http://www.sassychicshop.com and on that site I sell chic jewelry, accessories, cosmetics, pet products and fun hip things! My other site is a travel site where you can find discount prices on flights, hotel rooms and rental cars. Next time you plan a trip come try it out at http://www.katienewmantravel.com. Title: Happy Holidays Dear Blogger Friends!
    The Blessings of Christmas
    _______________________

The blessings of Christmas are many, more than words can express,
enough to fill every longing heart with untold happiness. And the greatest
of all blessings is the Christmas revelation That Jesus Christ was born this
    day
to bring the world salvation. Tell me not that miracles don't happen
anymore; They happen in believing hearts just as they did before. And it
    takes the
Christ of Christmas to change our point of view, For only through the Christ
    child can we all
be born anew, And that is why God sent His son as a Christmas gift of love,
    So
that wickedness and hatred, which the world had so much of, could find
    another
outlet by following Christ's way And discovering a new power that violence
can't outweigh, For in the Christmas Story of the Holy Christ Child's birth
    Is the
answer to a better world and goodwill and peace on earth. That is
why this message is sent to you to say
That YOU are wished the blessings of this holy Christmas day!!
    "Mary Steiner Rice"

    Title: Take A Hike Ike!
Wow!! We live in Houston as many of you know and I am happy to say that Hurricane Ike has taken a hike! It was devastating to many people who live in Galveston and surrounding areas. Thankfully we mostly just had a lot of debris, lots of tree branches and a couple of roof shingles that fell off. The worst of it for us and most of Houston was being without power for two weeks. It's amazing how much we depend on electricity! Below is a funny list of things Ike taught a friend of mine and I couldn't have said it better myself.
THINGS THAT HURRICANE IKE TAUGHT US!

Coffee and frozen pizzas can be made on a BBQ grill.

Hot pockets taste pretty good deep fried on the outdoor cooker!

My car gets 23.21675 miles per gallon, EXACTLY (you can ask the people
in line who helped me push it).

He who has the biggest generator wins.

A new method of non-lethal torture -- showers without hot water.

TV is an addiction and the withdrawal symptoms are painful.

Flood plain drawings on some mortgage documents were seriously wrong.

People will get into a line that has already formed without having any
idea what the line is for.

Cell phones work when land lines are down, but only as long as the
    battery remains charged.

Hampers were not made to contain such a volume.

If I had a store that sold only ice, chainsaws, gas and generator s...
    I'd be rich.

Waterfront property can quickly become someone else's fishing hole.

    Tree service companies are underappreciated.

MATH 101: 30 days in month, minus 10 days without power equals 30% higher
    electric bill??

I can walk a lot farther than I thought. >Heat makes you be brutally honest!!!!

A MUST for all blackouts with kids... GLOWSTICKS!

It is a great time to teach the children the fine art of gambling (penny
    ante poker) card playing.

You can never have too many gas cans!

7 dogs that do not normally live together still do not get along during
a hurricane.they have no comprehension of sharing.

5 gallons of sweetened iced tea a day is not enough for 9 teenagers.

Suddenly you realize you DO have neighbors!

Neighbors are much more sociable when your trees are being removed from
    their houses.

That neighbor who knows how to use a chainsaw is your new best friend.

What looks acceptable by candlelight in your bathroom will scare you
when you look at yourself in the mirror at the office

Coffee is NOT a luxury - it's a staple! And withdrawal is hell!

Rather than campfires, you find families huddled about tiny
battery-operated televisions to watch The Simpsons.

Peanut butter and jelly is a perfectly acceptable meal for breakfast,
lunch and dinner in the same day.

Ice is a form of currency.

Coming home from work with a pizza and a charged-up laptop so the kids
can watch a DVD makes you a hero.

You run out of things to barbecue after Day 3.

Hair can dry without a blow dryer, but it may not look the way you
    planned.

Baseball caps go with any post-hurricane ensemble.

You can't train yourself not to flip on light switches when entering a
    room.

    Lukewarm is the new cold.

It's easier to ignore a dirty house when you can't see it

A new opening phra se when seeing someone: 'Got light s yet?'

Daydreaming consists of thinking about what you will do when the freak'n
    power comes back on!

    and Finally*****

Ike showed many of us who our true friends are!!!!

    Title: Change of Life Seasons

Hi My Dear Dear Friends -- Summer has come to an end; I hope all of you had a wonderful one! And now it's back to school time for my kids. My son started first grade this year and my daughter is in 7th grade. It's my first year to have both kids in school all day! What a life change that is for me; now granted it's nothing like you ladies who have already sent your kids to college and may already have grandkids but it is definitely a change of life seasons for me and a little bittersweet. As a stay at home mom for 13 years you can imagine how my life has centered around them and still will but I am now deciding what to do with the time I have been given. Much volunteer work at my church and at my children's schools is in the works and of course my online boutique which I dearly love working on! I have added SO SO many new products so you must grab a cup of java or tea and sit a while and browse! Till next time I wish you an abundance of blessings!! Katie

    Title: My Walk

Hi Friends! I just returned from an amazing 3 day journey called The Walk to Emmaus. If any of you have been, I would love to hear your story! I would rank the experience right up there after my wedding and births of my children. It is a chance to BE STILL and spend time with God without any distractions and to experience Agape (unconditional love). If your church offers it I would highly recommend it! As for my boutique, I have added two new beautiful categories devoted to touching artwork from some amazing artists. Come see my new Robert Duncan category; his work is so realistic and moving! My other new category is Romantic Rose Art. Since I am not an artist myself I highly admire the talented women who paint roses so I have three of my favorite artists featured in that category; Debi Coules, Gail McCormack and Beverly Thompson. Till next time; may all your days be blessed! Katie

    Title: Hello Friends!

Hello to All! Summer has definitely arrived here in Houston; phew! My kids are out of school next week so I am planning fun things for us to do (but I will definitely need lots of starbucks coffee to make it to the end of summer!) My kids are doing swim team for the first time and I have decided it was created to torture parents! All the practices and meets start EARLY in the a.m. and there's lots of waiting around in the heat but I do love to see my kids swim and I have enjoyed getting to know some of our neighbors. My very outgoing 6 year old helps alot with that; he makes a friend everywhere he goes! My daughter is 12 and going into 7th grade and I get to spend part of the summer preparing to be VP of the PTA at her school next year; an interesting job that will be I'm sure! As for Katie Newman Gifts and Home; it is doing wonderful and I have added so many new products which I really enjoy doing! I appreciate all of you who shop with me so much! Too doo loo for this time! Katie

    Title: Hello Blogger Friends!
Well my new web store design is done thanks to Retro Boutiques! It's nice to change things up a bit and since my true fondness lies with the cottage style way of living so I thought my shop should reflect that. Speaking of cottage style you need to visit one of my favorite new cottage shops at http://www.colascottage.com; she has so much artistic and decorating talent. All the ladies on Shabby Lane Shops are spectacular so you should visit all of them. Well I had my ladies spring tea and it was lovely! I tried some new recipes; all of them turned out well except my scones which looked more like flat mis-shaped sugar cookies, but the Paula Dean ooey gooey butter cakes made up for them. I wrapped up a miniature teacup in tulle as a party favor for each guest. It's so fun to plan parties and you know if you're with true friends it won't matter if your scone looks like a pancake! So I say it's ok to try new recipes on friends because who else are you going to do that for? Till next time too doo loo!! Katie

    Title: Happy Spring Everyone!
Hello to my blog readers: It's been a while since I have done a post but there are lots of great things going on with Katie Newman Gifts and Home! I am currently having my site redesigned to a style which I feel fits my personality better and better portrays the feeling I want my shoppers to have when they visit my boutique. I have joined a new group of wonderful women entrepreneurs in a new online shopping mall that is full of talented women and beautiful boutiques. Check it out at http://www.shabbylaneshops.com. I also have added a lot of great new products and will be adding a lot more in April so if you haven't visited my shop in a while, come see me! Spring has arrived (although I know I get it here in Houston a lot sooner than many of you) but it is one of my favorite times of the year. It makes me want to do lots of outdoor entertaining, plant a garden and of course redecorate my home for the umpteenth time!! I just got back from spending spring break in Disney World with my two children (a 12 year old girl and a 6 year old boy) and my husband. It was a crowded mess and I was ready to come back to home sweet home. And that's what a home should really be; a place we want to come back to; a reflection of us! Till next time, Happy Spring!
